No, this price is very competitive for these specs. 5 years ago I got a Lenovo Legion with 3070, Ryzen 5800H, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD for around $1200-1300 before tax, and that price was 5 years of inflation ago; also when RAM was cheaper.

my guess is excess inventory and now they need to liquidate for 2027

once a 6 series gpu comes out, all of these just tank
2 things:
  1. 60 series is rumored to be delayed to 2028.
  2. Looking at downward trending gen on gen performance gains, it's not likely RTX 60 will be significantly faster than RTX 50. It might be a bit more efficient and support more advanced DLSS/AI performance. It might also have more VRAM, but, it's nVidia. I'm not holding my breath.

I think this will be the laptop I upgrade to, my Gateway/2060 laptop is showing its age nowadays. Honestly seems like a really nice price.
