Can't send any private messages - private messages full

I can't private message anyone. It says I have maxed out my private messages. I've deleted all the alerts that drop into my message box but yet I still can't send private messages.
Can someone help me please? I've searched the website but can't find any info on what to do. I would love a link of exactly how to be able to private message again. I'm not sure if its blocking me getting PMs too.
