Looks like a knockoff of the Honeywell but an extra port. the Honeywell has surge protection though. this is a very good deal if it's safe.

Thanks for the link. The OP's has a on/off switch. As for lacking the surge protection, my use case is to plug it to a power strip with the surge protection, not directly to the wall.

any thoughts on this cube shape when you're using all the plug spots. Seems like it'd be a huge waste of space

Then I would definitely not get one with surge protection. I'm not a fan of plugging surge protectors into surge protectors. As an electronics designer i'm also not a fan of button electrical switches on power taps though- most likely it's a low quality connection in series with the power and will be the safety weak point.

I have one of these, it's fine. I think it's best suited for having ready next to a couch. In that case, it's usually a laptop charger or similar, and could be coming from many angles. Having outlets on cubes takes more space when populated, but takes less space when free, so it's kind of a matter of preference. It also helps encourage the cables/bricks you plug in to lay flat, which is why I think it lends itself to floor use. But if you're using it on the floor, the USB cables lend themselves to getting stepped on and bent, so idk, use your imagination

I have this one (one working, one busted) and a couple of the rectangular cuboid ones (always wanted to use this term in a comment!) that have more plugs of course. When it's all by itself it saves space vs a traditional extension multitap. The use case is not wall mount or leave on the floor with stuff constantly plugged in, rather keep next to the sofa or table so you can charge whatever- the extra 2 power outlets are a bonus. Is this better nowadays than an Anker with a few high power USB C that can charge anything? Probably not, but it's much cheaper.

The Honeywell has a sharp corner shape and 300J of surge protection. It's a toy, not a surge protector.
