Yes, powerpack batteries are more expensive. There's good reason for that. If you want to pay $10/ah, just buy the regular old 20V batteries and call it a day.
1. The Technology Stays, the Names Change
The underlying battery engineering isn't disappearing; DeWalt is just changing the text on the plastic shell.
2. The 5.0Ah Powerstack Twist
While the compact pouch-cell batteries (like the 1.7Ah) will continue under the XR name for smaller form-factor tools, the 5.0Ah Powerstack battery is being explicitly replaced. DeWalt is phasing out the 5.0Ah pouch-cell design in favor of a brand-new 5.0Ah Tabless XR battery.
3. What This Means For Buyers
Because both pouch and tabless batteries will now use identical "XR" branding, users will have to pay closer attention to model numbers to know exactly what they are purchasing
If this is true, DeWalt is ran by some morons!
Lets simplify battery names to not confuse customers, so we're going to put whatever technology inside, give new part numbers and call them all XR.
F'ing Clowns!
