I was strongly considering this, there was another deal for a newer 4k model for $200 a week or two ago (but without the smart TV functions or RGB lighting) but it sold out in a few hours.

For what it's worth, I was able to buy that (G70F) but I'll return it for this one. 180hz vs 144hz isn't that big of a deal to me since I don't game competitively but the smart features (that play well with my samsung phone and tablet) are valuable to me. Also I like that this has the RGB lights on the back. Image quality and resolution are identical in both.

I bought 2 during the August sale for work/travel monitors and gaming. They have been great so far, but have been a bit finicky. The Smart Hub part is a nuisance like others have noted, but I am learning to live with its quirks and figured out best practice for my needs. HDR isn't the greatest on them, but the image is good enough to have no complaints. For reference at home I use an LG 42" C2 OLED to game on in 4K, so I am pretty critical on image quality.

My 2nd one from April 2025 was sent back just yesterday. Both have failed. The first one didn't have stock available for the replacement (purchased the 27" Alienware OLED from BB and used the Samsung credit for a S26 Ultra and Buds 4 Pros). But, for $230 (and Care+) it might be worth it!

How to compare Samsung G70D with this TCL QD-MiniLED? Samsung got relative 20% off, but TCL seems using much newer technologies, better refresh rate with dual mode (4K 160Hz / 1K 320Hz). Although C2GMA only has 1196 dimming zone, less than some flagship models nowadays with 2340+ zones, and Samsung probably has better quality, I am still in a dilemma.

I also find an MSI one at Newegg, kind of in the middle of these two candidates, with similar specs as this G70D but dual mode (4K 144Hz / 1K 288Hz):
