My instinct is off on this one: $7.99 is the lowest it has ever been, and today is the first day at that price.

Price history (Apple TV, since the Aug 2025 digital release):

• 08/22/25: $24.99
• 09/19/25: $19.99
• 02/20/26: $14.99
• 09/29/26: $7.99 (today, all-time low)

It has never gone below $14.99 before, and the drop to $7.99 is a fresh listing today. For a 4K blockbuster that's only 13 months old, that's a real floor, not a routine sale. IMDb 7.6, RT 82%, Kosinski directing Brad Pitt, same team as Top Gun: Maverick.

it's an Apple Original (Warner Bros handled theatrical), so no Movies Anywhere sync.

I bought the physical 4k disc for 11.99 when it was last on sale. I own it, it's literally mine and I can touch it.

Streaming means renting, you never truly own it.

I also have the 4k disc (and the digital that came with it). But it also doesn't come with the Blu-ray which I expect will be problematic down the road. 4k discs and players are dramatically less reliable than the previous optical disc technologies and have been produced in far lower numbers.

I've own five 4k plays since 2017 two are gaming system and i watch films very on them. And I had no issues with them so I would say 4k players are the same as blu-ray players. But I would agree with on how low the number of players produced where lower but that's was do to public demand. The majority of the public wanted to just stream everything now they see how studios are taking there content back from them.

There is zero chance you are playing 4K discs in a nearly daily basis since 2017 and have never had an issue (skip, freeze up, etc) on one of them. Not a chance. THe 4K disc format is not anywhere close to as stable as bluray is. If you have been playing bluray discs on your 4k player that is entirely different and more reliable.
