Maybe you'd like to share how you integrated these with HA. I am getting rid of Govee specifically because it doesn't integrate well with HA. And I have tried multiple times.

Not OP, but have relevant setup. Not all their products will have it, but if it's available, enabling LAN Control and utilizing the GOVEE2MQTT integration has not let me down yet. I also have some of their devices that are Bluetooth only and they're connecting via Bluetooth proxies and the govee Bluetooth integration. Pretty consistent connection and polling. Only issues I've encountered were due to my Bluetooth proxy setups

Like the other commenter said, Govee2MQTT works very nicely. I have these H601Fs along with H801As, H601Bs, and an H60A6, and they're all happily in HA. I also have a handful of those GoveeLife bluetooth temperature and moisture sensors in there via ESP32Home BLE proxies...

Thank you both. The custom integration I had previously tried to use does not work, but Mosquitto + Govee2MQTT eventually did the trick once I powered through one more kink. Now, they still rely on their home server through the API, but that can't be helped.

All the home assistant talk is great but is anyone running these on plain google home? 30 a light isn't crazy for color changing cans, the dumb ones are way cheaper though. Mostly wondering if the warm white is bedroom warm or gas station warm.

I specifically got these to replace my "gas station warm" lights hahaha I can tell you that at 2200K they're very warm. Also if low end is important to you at all, these are very dim at their lowest 1% and they have their "Night Light" mode, where if you flip the switch off and back on again, the little "halos" come on at your desired brightness.

Just curios, how do these compare to the Hue recessed lights in terms of light quality?

I have this exact same kit, once I got it paired on Govee app, I was able to use the HA integration, works fast, and local. I just used the Matter integration

Whats the usecase of integrating these with HA? I understand if someone wants to install a smart dimmer switch and integrate that switch with HA but ive been wondering why someone needs to integrate these with HA unless they need to control individual lights for some special effects. Another problem with these smart lights is that we need to spend extra on buying the light (while I can get 4 philips dumb lights in costco for $15) and they have vampire drain as the smart chip in the light needs to always get power , adding some more dollars to the annual electicity bill.

Savings far outweigh the miniscule power use if you use automations to turn off the lights either automatically or remotely via buttons or the good old app. That is on top of avoiding the use of a bazillion different apps. Google Home is a step in the right direction, Home Assistant is leaps and bounds above it; it has fairly steep learning curve however.

I beg to differ. I too have home assistant running on my nas and did some calculations since one of my 20 recessed lights started flickering.. the cost savings are miniscule and the breakeven is 5-7 years. If you generally switch off lights during the day whenever yuo see that the lights are on, there are no savings considering the vampire drain.

That's a big if. Sure, some of us do it. Others even have dusk-to-dawn lights. But true, if you're already conscious about electricity use, break-even point is further down the road. Incandescent vs LED lighting is quite a difference, the rest is just incremental improvement.

Here's a similar scenario. I was running the numbers on how much savings can a litter robot for cats provide. Using prices for typical litter, Google's AI said the savigs were upwards of $300 every year and breakeven point is under two years. But if you're already using inexpensive litter, such as Aldi's brand, shrunk savings to just over $100 a year, pushing the breakeven point to 5 years. But even so, amount of labor did drop significantly.

The biggest energy factor is outside the scope for this discussion, and it involves heating. Optimizing times and temperatures to heat water and air, or cool it down in the summer, have the most impact on the pocket. The other, non-energy related, is that you don't need to adjust the switches and lighting level yourself. Time saved so you can do other things, hopefully some of it still remains once you are done tinkering with HA.
