I either need glasses, lunch, or both because when this popped up on my JFY deals I thought it was chicken wings on a grille.

Looks like you need glasses. I have poor eyesight as well, but I could tell they were leaves. AI leaves.

Don't use these. Any restriction in air flow is bad.
Clean your unit regularly.

This is perfectly fine for the fall and winter when you're not using your AC unit to keep leaves from getting down inside of it and blocking drainage holes.

Obviously if you're using it then don't use this. If you have a heat pump unit that is used year round for heat and AC then don't use this.

How is it going to do damage? It's not going to be on, I would assume?

Same thing RV covers do...any little bit of dirt between the cover and metal will turn it into sandpaper...on windy days it will flap and rub through the paint.

Likewise, it can trap moisture inside that would otherwise just evaporate. Instead it condenses on the cover and keeps it damp.

The extra cover might also encourage rodents to take up shelter inside.

Our outside unit sits up on a set of blocks, on top of a section of concrete, so drainage is good. I just use a leafblower in the spring to blow out any debris that might have gotten in there (there usually isn't much).

With all that said, the one in this ad is only a top cover, and mesh, so it should alleviate those concerns...but just like gutter guards...yes the gutter may stay clear, but the cover gets plugged up with junk.
