Not receiving email alerts at verified email

For many years I have been receiving email alerts at a secondary email account. Today I decided to change my email alerts to my primary account . I went into my account and to my surprise my verified email account is already listed there. How is it I am receiving slickdeal alerts at my secondary account and not the verified one?
