If yours runs on Android you could try installing a RAM Swap app, like this

Or

Ive installed the 2nd app on a buddy's car and it surprisingly sped it up to more usable. Hes pretty happy with it, been a couple months already..
I installed a hacked version though that eliminates ads, everything else the same.. If you want the hack too, all I can say is "Mobilism"... look it up

(Bonus points for the FM transmitter - the car we're currently in has its aux-in all the way in the back, so this is a far more elegant way to get the audio into the main system.)
It's still not GREAT - you need to find a spot on the dash to mount the display, and that thing sticking up isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing, but it is at least AN integration solution
That said, get her car to an auto stereo installer and get that backup camera installed. I can not BEGIN to say how much of a boon those are. It's like night-and-day compared to just mirrors and head-swivel. (The eRapta line of cameras are cheap and REALLY high-quality. I miss the one I had on my old car.)
I've added a 10" widescreen one that actually blocks way less of my windshield (pretty much none), with a 4K camera, and it was like $70 or something with coupon.
Again, can't comment on this particular unit, but generally speaking these carplay screens are fantastic for the price you're paying.
Piece of advice for this big of a square screen - get a piece of paper or cut-out / fold a cardboard box per the dimensions - and see if it will fit in your car.
Or you can buy the real thing and try if you don't mind dealing with returns if it's too bulky.
