If you're looking to do an AM4 build look for Newegg bundles or if you just need a budget motherboard I recommend the MSI B550 PRO VDH WiFi.
The low price is reflected in the physical components and layout.
- Fragile Front USB 3.0 Header: A recurring complaint is that the plastic housing on the USB 3.0 header is weak and pulls off with the cable when disconnecting. Users have had the plastic grip detach during a case swap .
- Confusing M.2 Latch: The M.2 SSD retention mechanism uses a plastic push-pin style latch that is not intuitive to remove. Many users struggle with it and wish for a simple screw .
- Only 2 Fan Headers: The board has one CPU fan header and only one system fan header, which is very limiting for airflow, especially in a case with multiple fans .
- RAM Slot Clearance: The RAM slots are very close to the CPU socket. Large CPU air coolers can overhang and block the first RAM slot, making it difficult to install or remove memory .
