Expect to dedicate 30-60 minutes to getting it set up assuming you already have your games backed up and ready to load.

The Retroid Pocket 5 is a compact Android retro handheld that stands out for strong emulation at its price, especially PS2, GameCube, Wii, and much of the Switch library, with some light Steam and Android gaming possible too. The 5.5 inch OLED screen, larger controls, and clean black design are recurring highlights, and newer batches appear to ship with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Setup takes some tinkering, and the device is not truly pocketable. The small screen and 60Hz streaming latency are the main drawbacks, and more demanding Xbox or PlayStation 3 gaming still calls for a pricier handheld.
People using it as a streaming-and-light-PC side device, because it can run Android games, light PC games, and a limited selection of Steam titles.
Retro handheld fans playing PS2, GameCube, and lighter Switch games, because the device runs those systems well with driver tweaks and upscaling.
Players who want a compact Android emulation device for short trips, because it fits in a bag easily and can be somewhat pocketable in relaxed pants or shorts.
Parents buying a handheld for Minecraft Java or PS1-era indie games, because those lighter games fit its performance level without needing a bigger upgrade.
People who need a larger display for long sessions, because the 5.5-inch screen can feel too small and strain older eyes.
Players who want a true pocketable handheld, because it still needs a bag or sling and is not comfortably pocketable.
Gamers expecting smooth PS3 or Xbox 360 emulation, because Android support for those systems is still poor or not yet handled well on this chip.
TV players wanting a console-like Android docked experience, because HDMI output can add noticeable input lag.

Loved the Portal but sold it to prepare for an eventual 3 Portal. Didn't generally use the headroom it afforded. For the games I was playing and the clean bezels of the black model for any system, the 5 is 👌 perfect to tide me over.
In regards to portability, I agree it's not cumbersome to carry around in a bag. Not sure about a sling. But I hardly ever carry a bag with me.
Pocketability, while not EDC worthy like a 35XXH, is somewhat doable with the RP6 in relaxed pants/shorts for short trips where you'll have some downtime such as waiting during you kids school/practices, etc. I can just leave it in the phone tray or cupholder. OTOH, I'd be lucky to fit the Portal in the armrest storage or glove compartment.

**update I pulled the trigger. Most sites were saying retroid ran out of 8gb so this should come with 12gb
