Retroid 6 or Odin 2 Portal? Would rather buy once, cry once.

If you need portability, RP6. Otherwise, Portal.

This machine was the first in a long line of really good handhelds that's have been released in the last couple years. It's still a great device but the SD865 is pretty dated at this point.

If it was between those 2, I'd go with Portal hands down. The portal isn't THAT big and is still very easy to stick in a backpack or a sling. It's not like you'll be putting the RP6 (comfortably) in your pocket or anything so you'll still need a bag to carry it around. So, for me, even with portability being a factor, I'd go with the Portal since either one requires some kind of bag/backpack/sling to carry around. The ergonomics are a little better on the Portal and the screen is SO MUCH nicer at a larger size than the 5.5" on the RP6 (which is still a nice 120Hz OLED screen).

Loved the Portal but sold it to prepare for an eventual 3 Portal. Didn't generally use the headroom it afforded. For the games I was playing and the clean bezels of the black model for any system, the 5 is 👌 perfect to tide me over.

Screen difference is a huge step up for sure. I also like the larger controls.

In regards to portability, I agree it's not cumbersome to carry around in a bag. Not sure about a sling. But I hardly ever carry a bag with me.

Pocketability, while not EDC worthy like a 35XXH, is somewhat doable with the RP6 in relaxed pants/shorts for short trips where you'll have some downtime such as waiting during you kids school/practices, etc. I can just leave it in the phone tray or cupholder. OTOH, I'd be lucky to fit the Portal in the armrest storage or glove compartment.

Its powerful for a handheld emulator. Its not an s27 ultra phone that multitask. Lol

Dumb question. Does this come with games? What kinds of games? I, obviously, have no ideas.

The OG moto Droid could emulate PS1 games, so I'm not sure you need bleeding edge technology here

did you get 8gb or 12gb? Thought I saw somewhere that all newer RP5 are shipping with 12

**update I pulled the trigger. Most sites were saying retroid ran out of 8gb so this should come with 12gb

Yeah, the demand for more horsepower in these emulators always has me a little confused. My HTC Touch Pro 2 had a PS1 emulator in 2009.
