Are there any real differences between this model and the non-SE model?

For a $50 lower msrp, it has 16 hours of battery, instead of 20. It also cannot act as a power bank for charging other devices. Otherwise the same.

I always wanted to get Bose portable speaker but it's just so expensive to me. I wonder the difference of old models vs these new models? especially the sound quality. for battery life, it doesn't matter too much to me as I can bring power bank and I don't need it to play at long time in a single charge. thanks for your input!!

Be aware that the non SE version is known for the battery to self discharge when powered off to the point where the battery is completely dead even if not used. I don't know if this version has that problem.

The SE is 16 hours of power. it does not have a mic to use for phone calls. It can be used as a power bank like the regular max.

Get a Soundcore Boom 2 if you are on a budget. Amazing value. And if you get 2 and pair them in Stereo (TWS) - beautiful sound for less that this speaker.
If you want even more bass and power but loose some mobility, the Boom 2 Plus is a true party speaker and also way less than this.

This is indeed true ad confirmed by me. I returned bothe Xmas units as they were did in a month from self discharge. The Sounlink Gen 2 also had this issue. I see no reason why it won't happen to the SE version as well.

I replaced with two Soundcore Boom 2 $40 sale/each from Costco. And they don't discharge! And they were both similar sounding enough (i.e. good).

I've this speaker and it's amazing. Thinking of buying another to pair both together for absolute blast.
