Wow. All this time I thought a chop saw was another name for a miter saw. I've def seen videos where ppl use the terms interchangeably.
While chop saws and miter saws look similar at first glance, they serve completely different purposes.
A chop saw is built for heavy-duty, straight cuts in metal and dense materials, while a miter saw is designed for precise angled and bevel cuts in wood and trim.
As said by another User this is 50% off at one of the Home Depots here in Twin Cities. But my significant other simply refuses to let me buy it. I ruined my Metabo miter saw after using it to cut 1.5" thick metal iron - the metal I was cutting got so hot during cutting, that it warped the surface of my miter saw so everything I cut now doesn't cut perfectly straight anymore. So yes, there's a difference between miter and chop saws.

Sounds like it's time to replace your.. Miter saw?
I need one at work and they refuse to get one. So I guess they'll get used to the crooked bandsaw cuts!
