These always give up ... Maybe my hands too muscular .. a little sliver of metal is in the silicon parts and eventually it just gives up
Do you have experience with this one or you are speaking in general? I agree with you most cheap tongs will eventually give out but KitchenAid is a sold think piece of stainless steel. I have one for years and it never gives out. I don't but any other brand but this only.
I have two of this and buying one more because I just threw away another brand that I bought from Marshall's last month. It was Brookstone and it broke so fast. These Kitchenaid tongs are excellent
If you're trying to grab something like a steak it will slide out when you're gripping it. It is easy to clean though.
Just made two steaks two days ago with silicon tongs without issue.
ETA: not sure who dv me, but it's a fact that these tongs are perfectly grippy, and, IME, better than cheap non-silicon-tipped tongs that tend to bend a little. The two thick NY strips were very tasty and turned out really well for only my second time trying souse vide - perfect medium rare, zero grey band and a nice crust. I may never try again for fear I'll never be able to repeat it!
Anyway, don't stay away from these if you're worried about grip. They're fine.
