I've been using this on a deck project. It's good and solid and works smoothly, even after being used in an impact driver (which often binds these up). I'm in for a few more. I think I paid $12 at HD in store last month.

Does it have a spring to push the bit out a little when you unlock it?

I can see wanting to have a pivoting head.

After owning this bit holder for a few years, I wouldn`t want to swap it for a pivot even if it locks.

I really like this style bit holder. It locks without making the bit holder too wide. Other locking ones usually have a "fat" knob on them, making them more likely to not be able to reach into a recessed hole.
