FYI, Fox News bought Roku recently (and it shows in their OS). (https://www.tomsguide.com/enterta...-streaming)

FOX bought it, not Fox News. And there has been no major changes in the OS. If anything it could effect Roku tv app, because Fox also owns Tubi. But this just speculation by toms guide

when "politics" directly affects the items I purchase, of course it affects my decisions. The functionality (and respective tracking, suggestions, marketing, etc included) of the TVs OS its absolutely worth knowing about before purchase.

You clearly haven't read the new T&C or noticed the blatant shift in content recommendations and background animations since the ownership change. Its not subtle.
