The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is a faster, more polished e reader with 32GB of storage, wireless charging, an auto adjusting front light, a light sensor, and no lock screen ads. It is also described as snappier than older Paperwhite models and easy to live with for heavy reading. The main drawbacks are the high price, slow page refresh for some, and Amazon lock in for store access and wireless sending. A scratched screen and the lack of built in page turn buttons also came up, making it a better fit if those tradeoffs do not bother you.
Frequent readers who want a faster e-reader, because the Signature Edition feels snappier than older Paperwhite models.
Readers who want physical page-turn buttons on the device itself, because this model does not include them and the buttons are being added to a case instead.
Owners of a first-generation Kindle Paperwhite who want to keep using Amazon services, because software and store support have ended and new transfers no longer work.
Yes, this deal is for the 2024 model, not the newer upcoming model. A newer version is expected with a case that adds physical page-turn buttons and a remote, but that is not the one in this offer.
Yes, the Signature Edition is ad-free, and it can be used normally without activating any special subscription. If you want a cheaper ad-free Kindle, the kids version also comes with a case and can be used like a normal Kindle after removing the kids mode.
It adds 32GB instead of 16GB, wireless charging, an auto-adjusting front light with a light sensor, and no lock-screen ads. For most book readers, the main practical differences are the auto light and ad-free screen; the extra storage matters less unless you keep a large library or audiobooks on-device.
Yes, but the device is mainly tied to Amazon's ecosystem for store access and wireless sending. PDFs and other books can be sideloaded through Calibre, which can also strip DRM if needed.
Yes, it is reported to feel snappier than older e-readers and noticeably faster than the 2022 Paperwhite. That speed difference is one of the main reasons some buyers prefer the Signature model.
This is not the new model. This is the 2024 model fyi.
Yeah the new one is coming out with a new case that has physical turn buttons and a remote. Been waiting on that. Everything but the new price looks amazing.
Oh that's great so they finally let this work without any subscription? I've been reading on my 6" paper white for like 8 years I think or since they came out, it got too manu scratches from traveling. I was thinking of new one but still prices are high. Maybe I'll wait for woot deals of treaded units.

There will most likely be sales during the upcoming Amazon deals days. If you do a trade-in with Amazon they will give you a 20% off discount on a new model + any trade-in value of your device. Also - if you prefer a cheaper model but want it to be ad-free, buy the "kids" version which comes with a case and ads removed. You aren't required to activate the kids mode and can use it like a normal kindle.
