This Pulsar dual fuel inverter generator stands out as a 6,000 watt, 240 volt backup power option with remote start, especially for homes, well pumps, mini splits, and outage use. The dual fuel setup is handy for propane storage and avoids some gas maintenance, and the price drew strong interest as a solid value for the wattage. Reported drawbacks include heavy weight at 98 pounds, loud operation around 67 decibels, and some concern about the CO sensor and outlet compatibility. A practical pick if you need higher output and 240 volt capability.

If it has a battery and you're going to be storing it for a long time yes.
No, it's lithium ion, not lead acid so no need for the drama queen answer.

I just got mine and set it up. Got same messages that delayed, then rescheduled for today. Fired up on propane after a few start cycles using push button. Supposed to be 5 hour break in at less than 50% then change oil so keep that in mind.

Got my unit. Absolutely incredible machine with every bell and whistle, toolless access panels are a nice touch. Easy to move on wheels or grab handles, extremely pleased.

Got mine today. Runs well but the manual isn't fully aligned with this machine in a few small areas. As quiet as I expected, electric start and remote start work well.

A few recommendations if this is your first generator / outdoor power equipment with this kind of 212/224cc Honda clone motor.
  • Fill with the provided oil. Before turning the master switch to run, slowly pull the recoil starter a few times to get a little bit of lubrication on everything. run for 5 minutes, drain it and marvel at all the metal shavings left from the factory (completely normal on these engines). A suction style fluid exchanger makes this super easy.
  • Refill with some new oil, run for an hour, drain and refill. Recommend going for a higher zinc oil like valvoline vr1, driven, Mobil 1 classic car, etc… during break in.
  • Run for 3-4 hours with varying loads, switching eco mode on and off, etc. Stay below half load if you can. Drain oil and refill with a synthetic oil of your choosing. I like a euro 0w40 or 5w40 in these to cover hot and cold weather here in the Midwest, but those usually aren't a spec from the manual so caveat emptor.
  • If this is purely an emergency / backup source for you, do the break in on propane. No risk of old gas gumming up the carburetor if you do that. Otherwise, highly recommend ethanol free recreation fuel and stabil if this is something you use only occasionally. If you're running it daily/weekly for work and going through tanks of fuel every week/month… your run of the mill 87 octane gas is fine.
  • These come with garbage spark plugs from the factory that often fail or cause hard starting within the first 20-30 hours. Get an NGK BPR6ES from rockauto or a local parts store for ~$5 and don't worry about it for at least a few hundred hours (also sold under Honda brand name at a lot of big box retailers like Home Depot or Lowe's). Amazon is filled with fake spark plugs and I'd avoid them as a source.

I think he was asking about bypassing the CO sensor, not the battery

While inspecting what I can behind the panels...I found one of the two visible capacitor located on inverter board (above the battery) has a few dents. I plan to register and contact support.

Appreciate this! Found this helpful...repped.
This is my first gen, and plan running it exclusively on propane unless no other option.
Really don't wanna mess it up, so this sounds like a good way to start it off. Now to see how easy it is to change the oil. Big Grin
