This will be good as a clearance or open-box deal. Hoping to get in under 1000 on the 75. The panels can hit 10000 peak but drop off very quickly if the highlights are left static on the screen. Most movies don't even benefit from 4000 nits peak but there are a few that could possibly in Dolby Vision FEL. You can search 'Dolby vision stuff' to find an excel sheet with all the info. Gaming can also get up to 10000 nits natively in some titles but even the RenoDX mods don't really go past 4000.
I own the 85, it replaced a 77 G series oled and while it's not better than oled it's damn close. In terms of black performance I'd say it's easily a 9.5/10 if an oled is a 10. It's really that good.
Am I missing something here? Why is a mini-led tv that we're saying isn't "as good" as an OLED on sale for $5000? Can't you get OLEDs this size for a couple thousand bucks?

If you have southern exposure or very bright room with direct sunlight, OLED is waste of money today.

Late reply, but five grand sounds like a whole lot of money for a tv. Last TV I bought was a 60hz 55" LG (B series?) OLED and I spent just under $1000, so this sounds crazy to me.

It's not, though. You can absolutely run an OLED in a bright room, this isn't 2015. Spending $5k on a TV that isn't even as good as an OLED while spending 83" G6 money is insane.
Especially when you factor in that TCL is a budget brand
