1. It has a built-in DVR so you can record 50 hours of content - no monthly subscription
2. You can place it and the antenna anywhere (I.e. closer to a window) and then stream the content wirelessly to your TV, so you might be able to get more channels than you would have by having to plug that antenna directly into the TV.
3. It has a better menu than most TVs do
As implied above, you do need an antenna with a coax connection. It can be any antenna off of Amazon or Walmart. From my understanding, the one that Tablo sells in their "bundle package" is a pretty basic $20 antenna so it is not worth the $30 premium.
Also regarding what channels you will get, you can go to this website and put in your zip code and it will give you an approximation and recommend the type of antenna you need. There are a lot of factors but this will give you an idea.

FYI that for those that have a GovX discount/account (government and first responders), there's actually a $30 discount code there so the total is $40 plus tax. But the $50 price is great as well.

EDIT: I re-read your question and it looks like you are specifically asking if the GOVx discount works on both the antenna and non-antenna versions. Yes, it works on both and either one will give you $30 off. In fact, at first I placed both in my cart (to see if the antenna verison had an additional discount - it did not) and it prorated the $30 off of the entire cart (like $12 off the non-antenna version, $18 off the antenna version, for a total of $30 off). I removed the antenna version and the $30 off did work making the final cost $39.95 + sales tax + free shipping ($~44 or so more me in Seattle). It looks like you can originate the discount code via the Tablo checkout screen, or in my case I went directly to GOVx and got the code to paste in at checkout. Had it not been for the Tablo checkout screen showing the GOXv icon, I would not have even thought to check.
