These are great controllers, recently dropped one and jacked up one of the sticks. Anybody know if this one can be updated to work with switch 2, or does it need to be specifically the switch version? They seem to be exactly the same except for the button layout.

According to Nintendo Insider, this version of the Ultimate 2 (the one with the 2.4Ghz dongle) can work with the Switch 2, but it requires a firmware update and the dongle has to be connected to the Switch. I assume connecting the dongle to the dock would also work. https://www.nintendo-insider.com/...-switch-2/

It can, but the guaranteed compatible model is only $6 more right now: https://a.co/d/0hI5wrVy
Might be worth it for the peace of mind and native layout.
However, the lack of HD rumble and NFC are kind of lame, considering other controllers in this price range and even lower have it.
This is my main controller for PC gaming. At least in Bluetooth mode, Steam has full support for all the extra buttons, even showing the 8bitdo pixel heart for the "guide" button.
was it the 8bitdo ultimate 2 bluetooth ? From what im aware, the difference is that this has the xbox button placement. It also supports nativesteam input
