Prices are good if they are truly refurbished by the manufacturer. It also depends on what is done by "refurbished". Customer returns are always fraught with unknowns of what was wrong with the motherboard especially since all sorts of tweaking could have been performed and ensuing damage or degradation.

They're third party refurbished.

Took a chance on the X870E ROG Strix to replace a Gigabyte B850 gaming in my son's PC. Worst case, if it does not work or looks like crap, I'll send it back. Total paid with tax, 5% amazon prime card and 1% cashback app, $233.27. Sell the Gigabyte on marketplace for about $100 and it will be one real nice not very expensive upgrade.

They never reveal the 3rd party nor the refurbishing actions that they perform like battery replacement, burn in testing like with memory or cpu and actual loads, GPU testing, or even a check list of what they checked like certified used cars and the report they generate of what was the condition and necessary repairs/maintenance that they performed.
It seems they use the term "refurbished" in lieu of "used" quite liberally.

Actually, it's not legal for them to do that.

Is it possible these reached a consumer and was returned for being defective? Of course. But it's also possible that the product shipped defective and got recalled. It could be something as simple as one bad capacitor or a necessary BIOS update. Or perhaps the customer installed the CPU wrong and bent the socket pins.

Either way, it had to have received some level of service in order to be deemed refurbished.

And as long as it works, does it really matter?

I currently own the ASUS Prime X870-P WiFi MB which woot! is charging $175 for and I purchased mine some time prior to Prime Day last year in "Very Good" condition from Amazon Resale for around $182 and it's still going strong to this day. W/ that being said, it's a very good board, although it lacks the necessary SATA ports I needed (only containing 2x), but you can easily repurpose a PCIe slot w/ a SATA adapter to add more ports. And you're in for a treat if you favor NVMe M.2 slots since this board has 4x. However, you could also repurpose those slots w/ adapters (SATA, WiFi, etc.) as well. Aside from that, I don't foresee anyone having any issues w/ the refurbs. Being that they're Grade A refurbs, they probably were returns that came back in pristine condition in which they have a current backlog of.

I also bought the ASUS B650E MAX Gaming WiFi from Amazon back in Dec for around $111 in "new" condition (and saved $9 due to "discounts"), but I haven't had a chance to use it yet since I have a PC build w/ all the necessary parts waiting to get installed except the DDR5 RAM for obvious reasons. Overall, for the price of $89.99, that's not bad for a Grade A refurb. One last note, don't forget to use promo code ASUSWOOT to save an add'l 10% off to make this deal worth your while.
