For anyone interested this item is great and reliable. I've been using it on lan with Home Assistant for 3 years and it hasn't even lost connection once.

I've had the Homekit version of this for several years and it's always worked great. When I replaced my garage door opener this summer I realized it didn't work with this smart opener using a direct wire method after running the setup wizard. When the wizard completed it said I needed an adapter (basically a garage door opener remote that gets hard-wired) and Meross sent one out for free.

Definitely a great value that the company supports

Does this work with older garages too? Like from 2018

Not being rude here but you should check your garage motor model with ChatGPT or Gemini at least. This thing works with a garage opener from the 90s but ChatGPT wasn't sure if it would work with the myQ enabled door I have. I haven't given it my model number yet

Do yourself a gigantic favor and get the newer MSG150 instead. Those do not need a separate door state sensor install, and are thus much more reliable.

This works with all garage openers. It works with MyQ openers too, but with a little extra step. You have to get the hard wired button to reroute the command. I bought mine on ebay for $10 and got it to work easily. Per the user above, looks like you can contact Meross and they will send you the part needed. It works so much better and more reliable than MyQ. I have 3 doors controled by this device or a similar version.

I have the older model for 5 years now. The contact sensor shifted once so the opener though the door was open. I've since fixed it, but if it ever happens again definately going with the MSG150.

MyQ stopped their API to force us to use their ad app that happens to let us operate our garages so I switched to meross (homekit version at the time was only $5 more) and integrated with Home Assistant for automation like Tesla's geofencing auto open and close. I had to get the additional wired button from Meross but it shipped quickly enough that I could relegate that dumbass MyQ app for my family members' garage doors. MyQ is dumb in that if it doesn't close after 2 or 3 times via the app it basically says "you're SOL, physically go there to close and troubleshoot" and that door won't work until then

ratgdo is popular alternative to MyQ's bullshit too

Note: 2.4GHz WiFi network support only. I had to split bands on my Xfinity router to configure it and have it work consistently. I don't use it for automation so I don't have the sensors installed. No need to carry around a clicker. Mine is branded as Lomota same model. $26 in 2020.
