The Ninja Creami Deluxe stands out for making ice cream and Italian ice at home, with strong results and easy ways to customize texture and ingredients. The refurb units have also arrived looking and working like new in some cases, and Woot has handled returns and refunds when problems came up. The main caution is reliability, since several refurb units failed to power on, needed replugging, or developed gear and spindle issues, and the 90 day warranty feels thin for an appliance. A solid option if you want the Creami experience and are comfortable with refurb risk.

I love my Ninja Creami. Store bought ice creams have too many chemicals in them, way too much sugar too. I make mine healthy, as in using dates and maple syrup instead of refined sugars. I also use a bit of xantham and guar gum, which helps take away the iceness. The key is to use a high fat base, I use the organic coconut cream from Trader Joe's, and some milk/kefir too. I will explore using whey protein to make it protein dense too. Also, do another remix spin cycle, it helps make it creamier and better.

My parents got one of these a couple years ago and I've been wanting one for myself. Seems like as good as time as any.

Bought one and when I plugged it in, it would not function. It was like the machine was shorting out. After multiple back and forth emails they offered a full refund once the product gets back to them. Just shipped it out yesterday, they sent pre-paid label. All in all, woot had good customer service but the product is hit or miss I would say after reviewing all the reviews.

They're regressing when they base their entire opinion on a single unit which can contain defects
Not really... After this happened to my machine where it shaved through it's own gears instead of having a failsafe guard, I started reading about it online.
It's seems it's quite common to have this happen. The other worst part is that if it shaves through the blade gears one can replace the blade. But many times it shaves is own spindle and at that point the machine is useless because there is no replacing the spindle.

And the single worst piece of invention because of the effort it took in the prep for making the ice cream and then wait for 1 day in the freezer and then you get a quart of whatever ice cream to eat.

I'm not a proponent of store bought ice cream, but in this case the whole prep and clean up and wait time is ridiculous for the machine to churn the stuff for 2 mins, and that too not faultless.

Its good to see you're not being overly dramatic about a faulty $100 appliance. I hate to see what your response is when your car breaks down. 😳
I would be overly dramatic if the car breaks down at 5k miles, which is what this machine did. I made ice cream about 6 to 10 times before this happened.

If it breaks down at 100k miles then I'd just get a new car.

I don't always love refurbs, does anyone have any experience with Woot refurbs on items like this? It's only got a 90 day warranty. I've had great luck with my Ninja coffee maker but not so sure here.
When I bought this thing from woot about a year ago the issue was - it required replugging the power - otherwise it didn't want to turn on back after a while. honestly, it wasn't a big issue for me at all. Though I'd decided to return it to woot and then purchased the same one from costco for $150 just to be able to return it whenever I'd like. Which I actually did, because after three months of that preparing routine, I gave up.

You can't clean the spindle that comes down. The company says it is "self cleaning" - just think about all the ingredients being mixed around the spindle and the spindle going back up into the machine where you can't clean it, "self cleaning" by scraping a portion of residue off itself onto its plastic housing... over and over.

50 bucks more at costco right now, plus an extra tub and costco return guarantee
This ^

I bought mine from woot before it lasted just over a month. I had to quote woots own warranty terms to them because they weren't wanting to refund me

what exactly is the prep and cleanup like? Were you making like a custard ice cream where I think you have to cook it a little or?
