Just you know, Walmart has extended their return window to 1/31/2027 for items sold by Walmart, including this PC. Try it, and if you hate it, return it.

This MSI Codex Z2 is being framed as a strong sub 1,000 dollar ready to use gaming PC, especially for 1080p play, with the RTX 5060 alone cited as worth about $500. The 1 TB SSD and upgradeable DDR5 memory add flexibility, and the long Walmart return window through January 31, 2027 lowers the risk. The main knocks are the 16 GB RAM and 8 GB VRAM, which may feel tight for heavier modern games and future use. It looks like a solid value if you want a prebuilt with room to tinker.

Common Questions (5)

  • For typical gaming and general use, 16GB is enough on this build, though 32GB is a common upgrade if you want more headroom. Heavy modding or other niche workloads are the main cases where more memory may matter.

  • Yes, it is positioned as a strong sub-$1,000 1080p gaming PC, with the RTX 5060 alone cited around $500 and the bundle price seen as strong value. The main caveat is that it is a low-end build for longevity, especially with 8GB VRAM and 16GB RAM.

  • Yes. The RAM can be added later, and the AM5 platform leaves room for future CPU and GPU upgrades, so it is not a dead-end system.

  • Walmart's return window for items sold by Walmart, including this PC, is extended to 1/31/2027. After that date, issues would most likely go through MSI RMA unless you bought an extended warranty.

    taterbladeepix1718cwhiteh2

  • No. The Ryzen 5 8400F is an "F" chip, so the system relies on the discrete RTX 5060 for display output.

it varies based on supply on hand when built. the photo has an msi branded card so that's an option

tempting to buy. i am only after the AM5 platform so i can move out from my old intel 11700K Z590 motherboard. I still have a radeon RX 7800XT 16GB and can still play games at decent quality and framerates.

Thank you. If there is a problem then msi will handle it out of the box ? Also Wish there was option to buy version with upgraded ram

all issues after 1/31/27 (the last day to return to walmart) would most likely go thru MSI rma, unless you bought the ext warranty.
