This RX 9070 XT Gaming OC is a fast card, but the open box angle makes it feel risky because this Gigabyte model has repeated heat complaints tied to thermal paste and cooler design. The card can run fine, and repasting or undervolting may help, but fixes may not deliver much temperature improvement and can add extra cost. Warranty coverage is also uncertain on open box purchases, so checking the receipt fine print and stress testing it during the return window matters. It is a strong performer, but the open box savings come with real uncertainty.

I purchased an Open Box - Excellent online and received a 9070 instead of the XT. Someone swapped the sticker and it was noticeable. I also tested it and confirmed it was only a 9070.
I had a video recording of the full unboxing so I showed it to a manager at a local Bestbuy. Manager said "Damn what a time...." and provided a brand new one.
