I have this and have never had a problem with input lag. The battery life is pretty good in my limited experience, and the lack of usb c port in the middle of the controller is a must for people who want to put their phone/tablet in different orientations. The real issue I have with it is that two of my controller's magnetic face buttons fell off somehow and the only way to get replacements is to buy them for ~$25 on Etsy. Gamesir doesn't offer any official ones.
Check out GameNative and Gamehub if you haven't. Those apps let you play PC games from your Steam/GOG/Amazon library on your Android device. It's very hit and miss, but a lot of 2D (like Hollow Knight Silksong, Cuphead) and lightweight 3D games (Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas) work well on modern Snapdragon chips.
The GameSir G8 Plus is a wraparound mobile controller that fits larger phones and some tablets, with Hall effect sticks, gyroscope support, and both Bluetooth and USB C use. It works well with foldables, an 11 inch iPad, and a Samsung Tab S7 even with the case on, and the grip and feel draw strong praise for mobile play and cloud streaming. Bluetooth performance is often fine for emulation and general use, but latency can show up in faster games, and Android audio lag can also be noticeable. The main drawbacks are accidental presses near the D pad, charging and Bluetooth tradeoffs, and limited official replacement parts, making it a solid fit if you want a roomy handheld setup.
Foldable-phone gamers who want a controller that fits a larger handset, because it works with foldables and can be modded for bigger tablets.
On-the-go cloud-streaming players who want a comfortable grip, because it has worked fantastically for Luna and Game Pass streaming and feels great in hand.
It works with foldable phones and has been used successfully with an iPad 11-inch and a Samsung Tab S7, even with the case left on. The main limitation is that it may not open wide enough for larger tablets without an extender mod.
It can feel lag-free in some use cases, especially emulators, but lag is reported in faster games like FPS, racing, and sports titles. Bluetooth audio lag on Android can also be noticeable depending on the device.
The controller feels very nice overall, but the two buttons directly under the D-pad are easy to press accidentally while using the D-pad. The magnetic face buttons can also fall off, and replacements reportedly cost about $25 on Etsy with no official replacements.
No headphone jack is mentioned for the G8+ family in these comments, and the Gamesir G7 and X5 Lite are specifically noted as lacking one. If a headphone jack matters, a Backbone or Razer Kishi V3 is suggested instead.
Why get a wrap around controller then just use laggy bluetooth, and you have to worry about charging it? The original G8 uses type C. I do wish the original G8 had the d-pad up top instead of the thumb stick.
You act like Bluetooth just came out yesterday and it isn't used for a wide variety of controllers. Your idea of lag is way overblown.

I have this it does lag depending on the game you play. If it is emulator games it is not noticable. FPS/racing/sports games lag about .03 of a sec. That may not sound like much but that translates to noticeable lag.
Thanks! Just ordered for my Fold8 Ultra. I've never really done Mobile gaming before, but this fold-out screen is just too good to not try it out. I've landed on getting both the G8 Plus and the X5 Lite. The G8 plus has physically swappable buttons for my emulation playing, but the trade-off is dealing with Bluetooth and keeping it charged (my controllers are going to be sitting in the car because my intent is just on the go gaming). And the GameSir X5 Lite is for the more regular playing of PC or Xbox with my preferred USB-C plug and play. Now to figure out emulation - the main game series I want to do on here is Fire Emblem
I'm getting the G8 plus because I have the X5S (same size as the X5 lite, I believe) and I found that it was just too small for my hands. That said, I didn't have any issue with X5S Bluetooth lag at all, so if the G8 plus is similar, it should be fine.
The two buttons right under the D-Pad are easy to accidentally push while using the D-Pad. My only gripe about this controller. Feels very nice though.

Lol, Bluetooth has been around for awhile, and because of that I know all about the lag. Wired will always be faster. 2.4ghz is slightly faster, but wired is the best. You can go further by looking for a faster polling rate. Yes, I do know what I'm talking about. I mainly use the phone for emulation, and with that you need to minimize lag whenever you can. My favorite way to emulate is a Mister with a wired controller, but I don't use a crt. At 60hz each frame takes 16.67ms for each frame. Most TVs have negligible lag at that frame rate. If you pile on emulator lag plus Bluetooth controller lag you start to notice it.
edit; hate if you want, it's hilarious to me. You might not like it, but it's true.

Got the Hulk version of this from a walmart deal a few years ago. I'm not a heavy user as I'm home for console gaming mostly, but I've used it a good amount for cell phone games at home and Luna and Gamepass streaming on the go and it has worked fantastically. Great feeling controller.

But why not acquire a CRT if you like emulation? I was admittedly quite lucky to get a Trinitron monitor for free which only rarely decides to stop working, and it's quite fun emulating games on it. I have it on a separate standing desk system with a decent arcade stick and some controllers on standby. Really the cost of CRTs will only go up and you should prowl now.
This is a really good price for the G8+ coming from Walmart especially since I purchased mine from AliExpress on 10/4 for $43.59 which includes the use of a $5 discount coupon.
I was hoping this was the model with a 3.5mm headphone jack
Even the Gamesir G7 doesn't have a headphone jack nor does the X5 Lite (Type-C) either. Ask me how I know...
Also, if you're still on the look out for a mobile controller w/ a headphone jack, then you might wanna try seeking a Backbone or the Razer Kishi V3 for example. Ask me how I know.

There's a newer option as well - Droid Deck. It makes SteamOs an app now, no need to install a separate OS anymore

Yes. USB-C can connect the controller to a console, and wired use avoids Bluetooth latency for emulation and other timing-sensitive games.
