Community Reviews

Energy CF-50 floorstanding speakers are being treated as a strong budget tower option, especially at $199 a pair. At that price they are described as a clear step up from cheap bookshelf speakers, with decent sound after break in and even better results when bi amped with quality cables. The main caveat is that they are not in the same league as higher end audiophile speakers, and some prefer the larger CF-70 if the extra money is available. They are also old stock, so this is more about value than a current model refresh.

Energy USED to be an excellent brand. I had some Energy Veritas towers and bookshelf speakers in Rosenut and they were some of the best sounding speakers I'd ever heard. Then they got acquired by Klipsch/Audiovox and they basically bastardized them.

I don't have any experience with these newer models.

If you biamp these, and use quality cables, they actually sound pretty legit... you do have to take a few extra steps, though in order to really get these to sound on par with other major audiophile brands

Good amp yes. Speaker wires dont matter. You can use a hangar and they sound the same.

I picked these up a few months ago; I would not have considered them at $800. For $200, I'm pleased, it's pretty damn cheap and they're definitely an improvement over the $100 bookshelves they replaced. That said, I would have opted instead for the CF-70 pair at $300 that happened a month later.

Those are $374 a pair. That's not "around the same price."

No, the CF-70s:The RC-70s I would also have considered if they had a deal on just a pair. I've only seen a deal for them in the 5.0 set.

For $200 a pair these are pretty good bang for the buck. They're probably better than similar priced and sized Jamo speakers on here all the time. I agree with wdslkd that the CF-70's are worth the extra $100 if you can find them.

If you find yourself flush, the RC-70 5.0 set for $800 is about the best you can get for that kind of money. But you will want a decent receiver eventually to get the most out of those.
