This Verizon switch deal centers on getting an iPhone 18 Pro and a free iPad or Apple Watch through monthly bill credits, but the real value depends on the required service plan and long commitment. The promo appears to require a pricey Pro add on, and the tablet line can add another monthly charge that makes the total cost much higher than the devices alone. It also seems limited to phones over $1200, which may exclude the base iPhone 18 Pro. The upside is strongest for shoppers already planning to pay monthly or who cannot buy the devices outright, as long as they are comfortable staying locked in for 36 months.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. The promo is tied to a Simplicity Plan with Simplicity Pro, adding about $50 per month on top of service. That makes the "free" phone depend on paying higher monthly fees for 36 months.

  • No, not without risking the promo. The device credits are tied to the line, so cancelling or downgrading can make the credits disappear and leave you owing the remaining balance or facing collections.

  • It can be, if you already spend around the same amount on service or cannot pay about $1,200 for the phone upfront. The 36-month cost can land near $1,800 either way, so the deal mainly helps people who want financing and upfront device savings.

  • The offer reportedly only applies to phones priced above $1200, and the base iPhone 18 Pro is listed at $1199.99. That puts the base model just under the stated threshold.

  • The iPad line is about $10 per month over 3 years, or roughly $360 total. That makes it close to buying the tablet outright at Amazon-level pricing rather than truly free.

I can't believe people still fall for these carrier "promos" thinking they're getting a free lunch. It's just an expensive 3-year contract in disguise. Between the mandatory $50/month "Pro" plan add-on and the $20/month tablet line, you end up paying way more in inflated service fees than the devices are actually worth. Unless your job is footing the bill, falling for this is just goofy. Buy outright and go prepaid instead.
This is not hopelessly bad though. 36x50=1800. If you buy the phone and sign up for somewhat decent annual service plans, for 3 years it would be 1200+3x200=1800. Of course you can wait for a deal on the phone, or go for cheaper plans, so you have more options if you bought the phone separately.. but this isn't too bad if you don't want to waste a second searching

Be smart and do what I did. Get a number from portanumber.com, port in that number to Verizon, and get the phone. Use your main number with the cheaper plan on the same phone (if it is total/st/Verizon/tf and other Verizon mnvos). If you abandon or close the port-in line, you will have a free iPhone, but you will be locked to Verizon.

This is great deal. I do use pre-paid but that is not for everyone & Verizon is an evil empire kind of company but not my battle right now.

Lots of people can't buy a $1200 phone and $600 tablet outright. (plus good credit cards offer cell phone insurance with monthly plans)

Beyond that as you said jobs may be paying, or in the case of my family we plan to switch from pre-paid to T-mobile for 'free upfront' iPhones and 4 lines for $100. Which is very hard to beat without lots of pre-paid plan switching.

Not to mention because I will pay monthly my credit card will provide cell insurance for all the phones and I will switch to T-Mobile home internet for more discounts.

Also my Dad can go into a store when he needs some help and I am not around or he just want to get out.
Sometimes that having some else handle that help alone is worth serious $$$ equivalents.

So for Verizon people this is great deal.

Can you clarify? Are you saying cancel the Verizon iPhone? Or cancel the line that one had coming into this.

What's the cheapest Verizon plan?

Think he's saying get a cheap Verizon plan (that's $30/month), then use that site to get a number to port into Verizon for the free stuff.....and since phones these days allow you to use multiple esims on a single phone..use the cheap Verizon plan on the devices, then you're free to abandon that expensive $50 plan, because even if the phone stays locked to Verizon, that won't matter because your cheap Verizon line is already attached to the phone. I wouldn't do that myself though because who's to say they won't just make the phone have a bad ESN, halting your service with the $30 plan? Too much going on for me to consider, unfortunately...especially since I don't know if that's even legal to do.

Why do they keep trying to push Google AI when you're buying an apple phone, that comes with SiriAI?
When we got my wife's 16 they added it for "free" and then we had to take it off the line because they were immediately trying to charge us for it the next month despite her never even wanting it.

Def not smart, you abandon the 36 month commitment then your phone is not free, I would imagine Verizon will hunt you down to pay the remaining balance of the phone or take you to collections

Wouldn't you get charged the cost of the "free" items by cancelling the line? Not sure how it is now but the credits used to be tied to the line, not the account. Downgrade or cancel anything and risk all the credits disappearing.
