Yes duck tape, later it got called duct tape.
Originally it was used to keep water out of metal ammo boxes.

I'll never forget the duct tape wallet and crafts fad. That was an expensive year for my kids

This is double the price of Walmart for the same product. It's $5 for 55yds. I got it for $3.50 with the pickup codes floating around. What a garbage deal by staff.

Thanks for this. I thought it was invented to fix leaks or seal joints in air ducts. And I thought duck tape was just a malaprop.TIL.

15 yards is fine for occasional, but:
1. Walmart sells the same tape in a 45-yard roll for $7.47 (= $2.50/15yards). https://www.walmart.com/ip/Duck-B.../844397821
Looks same for me, but correct me if I'm wrong.

2. If you don't need this *exact* type of tape, Harbor Freight (yeah, local stores only B&M, no free delivery) sells 50 yards of silver duct tape for $4.98. BUT they also often have 30% off coupons (for non-members for any item < $10), usually once every month or two. With the coupon the tape comes $3.50 for 50 yards.
