Personally I think an in-line monitor is probably more useful and will last you across many cables as they inevitably wear out.
Having this usb-c cable is pretty much limited to testing power bricks.
Goto amazon and search for "usb power meter" you'll find lots. Some are better than others, but for 95% of us they all work.
I got the plus style one... it has USB A and C inputs and outputs.
With it, I can test devices, cables, power bricks of just about any type.
%99 of the time I'm just looking at wattage throughput.
There's other info, voltage, amps, and even some charts and pretty detailed info.
