Can you clarify this? I don't think Amazon has ever refused a return/refund in my life. I've returned laptops there before without issue. Are you speaking from recent experience? Has the return process changed to require some kind of proof?

Too many nightmare stories about Amazon sending wrong items or fake repackaged returned items. Amazon tells most people they are out of luck.

I would never buy anything over $500 from Amazon. If you must buy from Amazon, record yourself unboxing it as evidence.

Just what I need but am traveling currently. Do you think we will see similar deals closer to Black Friday?

Nope - prices always increase for Black Friday. Hence the name, to evoke imagery of a funeral for your money.

FYI, the MSRP for this model before price increase was $2199, so this is really solid deal!

If I'm not mistaken, the price for this specific MacBook Pro configuration (M5 Pro, 24 GB RAM) prior to the June price hike was $2199, not $1999.
