Sony says the hinges have been fixed but people still report having problems. They develop micro cracks and breaks overtime.

Depends how big your nogging and how careful you are with them, I bought one that I broke by accident placing my bag with my laptop on top of them, so the hinge got broken but I fix them with dental acrylic so I use them for work and I got another pair for home that I cared and they look good as new. For the price are though to beat in terms of audio quality, anc and features if you get the refurbished ones for $60

Like 90% as good as my xm5s. There have been some good refurb sales on the xm series lately, and would go that route if still available, but if you're squeamish about refurb headphones this would be the way to go since new.

Excellent headphones i wear for gym every day. Very similar to xm. Great battery life , noise cancelling and low weight. Sound quality good enough for everyday use. I paid 75 for refurbished, best headphone deal i ever made. Big plus is they come with same nice carry case as xm.

If you are watching your dollars, you can occasionally find these ULT Wears refurbed for $70 on Ebay with a 2yr Allstate warranty, from secondipity. I bought a pair for my daughter and they are nice, but a bit bass heavy. You can tweak the EQ to balanced them out a bit but will still be bass centric. I bought a 2nd pair just for myself to have to play round with and when i get tired of my inner ear QC II earbuds.

My XM4's stopped charging. I bought these to try to replace them and was not happy with them. I returned them, got XM5's. The XM5s are MUCH better sounding in my opinion. From my experience these are more like 70% as good as the XM5s.

The bass is definitely overpowering in modes 2 and 3 but I found if I keep it on the neutral setting and run a manual EQ, it makes a pretty noticeable improvement. I have both these and the XM5s and obviously prefer the XM5s but don't feel like I'm missing too much, especially for the price. That being said, I got the Ult 900n from secondipity for $64
