I had a wonderful experience with the M80B 32" - this looks like it has much of the charm and thin profile. It should be an upgrade for the guest room and won't require a streamer to be functional as a TV.

It's working for me. Are you signed into an EPP or EDU account?

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

FWIW, the 65watt TypeC port can be used for a keyboard/mouse (and it will also be able to be used to control any HDMI connected device
HOWEVER
The TypeC connection will turn off when the monitor is powered off or goes to sleep- no way to force "always on"
SO
If you wanted to run a comp or laptop off the TypeC it will charge but won't stay powered unless the monitor is always on.

I had ordered the $200 43" Insignia from Prime days last week as a Christmas gift. I've second guessed myself since my order, as I've seen lots of issues and concerns with it in reviews and videos. For only $40 more, I'm much more confident in this being a well received and well functioning gift. Thank you for posting this, and concreting my decision to regret my original decision 😂

Last thing I need is a "smart monitor" that downloads gigs of data and spyware while idling.

You don't have to connect it to WiFi, I didn't bother connecting my smart tv because I have an Apple TV.

I'm guessing you could turn the wifi off on the monitor / tv. I have a LG OLED 77" tv that the wifi has been and always will be set to "OFF" .. I use an Nvidia Shield (2015) for streaming content. .. I think this is ok, please comment if it is not.

If I wanted a TV I'd buy a TV. Monitors with built in corporate spyware is a hard no for me.

I'm not sure, but seems like most everyone says to just keep the wifi turned off on either the monitor or television, and just use an external Roku or such device. This makes sense to me, but if you know differently please let me know. I did order this monitor instead of a similarly priced television. The TV seemed to be nearly bottom of the line at this price point, unlike this monitor as far as I can tell.

You know all displays have built in corporate spyware as long as you connect said device to the internet? If you don't want to give them your data don't connect to their wifi and use the corporate spyware company that you want to give your data to or enjoy your old DVD or VHS collection as long as those players didn't also connect to the web.
