the 8-port unmanaged was just $49 a few days ago (now $59 I think). Make sure you really need/want managed for more than double the price.

if you need or want Link Aggregation you have to go with a managed switch most of the time, and this looks like it has that feature from the comparison chart on the product page.

Where are you seeing the 8 port 2.5G for 49 or 59? Crazy good deal if it's still live.

Netgear has a weird VLAN restriction that it can only tag a VLAN number up to the number of ports on the device, so 1 through 8 on this. Many networks are set up with VLAN10 VLAN20 etc and can't be used by this type of limited configuration. Plan accordingly if this might apply to your setup.

Save 10% more by buying direct from netgear.com and use code "summer". There's also an offer that can be loaded on amex cards (ymmv) for $25 off a $125 purchase from netgear.com.

I can't say I've encountered any vlan restriction with Netgear. Even the cheap gs305e let me configure the vlan 591 that Deco uses for the guest network.

Seems like a decent enough deal. I may have to bite.

I took a look at the manual regarding VLAN configuration and I see the source of confusion. There are two VLAN modes available: "port-based" and 802.1Q. The former is tied to the physical port number (1-8) and the latter allows the standard selection of 1–4093 (with up to 64 configured).
