Dell cut the price on its GB10 mini workstation, the same platform as the NVIDIA DGX Spark. The 2TB config dropped from $6,593 to $5,903, and the 1TB option now comes to about $5,523 in the configurator. Dell.com shows it in stock.

Dell Pro Max with GB10 [dell.com]
What makes it worth a look:
  • NVIDIA GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip with 128GB of unified memory
  • ConnectX-7 networking, so you can cluster it with other GB10 boxes or a real DGX Spark
  • The 4TB DGX Spark is sold out or marked up at most US stores right now, at $6,950 or more where you can find it
Stack it: I'm seeing $350 back in Dell Rewards, plus $100 for opening a new rewards account, and 12-month 0% financing on my order. Check the terms on your own cart, since they may vary by account.

Heads up: NVIDIA says 64GB GB10 models start at $4,999 on Oct 23 if you don't need the full 128GB. But, I wouldn't recommend that!

If you're on the fence, don't sleep on these.. The prices are continuing to skyrocket and it's likely not going to get better in the immediate future... The 64gb variant is releasing at the cost of what the 128gb version was just a few months ago..

Local models are continuing to get better so the value of these things for single user inference and workloads is dramatically increasing almost weekly.. some claiming performance similar to flagship subscription models.. which would have been a wild claim 6 months ago.

This helped me with the decision https://youtu.be/IRyiP_U7RuA?is=7x4K6W3KAfa4tIA7

TLDR; know what you will use it for, try the model for a month then decide. Don't buy in anticipation!

pretty solid price, since the nvidia version are all sold out.

and for those who ask mac studio...
they are different tools. this obviously won't run mac software or games, but if you run vLLM... this is probably the cheapest and proven way to run it. if you are not running local AI or fine tuning the models.. why are you even looking at this.

I'd have to double check, but I think this has a 2242 drive - so don't think you can buy a bigger drive and swap it in easily. I've had a number of discussions with folks about these devices. Note that everyone (including HP and Lenovo) are selling something similar.

Unless your company is paying for it or you are handling strict air-gapped data that legally cannot leave your local network, the math here makes zero sense for running LLMs. Cloud options like MiMo pro 2.6 give you 38 billion tokens a month for $44. Buying this box to save on API costs is throwing money away. Plus you cant run a 1trillion parameter model on this but you can rent one for 44 dollars a month. The electric bill on this machine alone inside you house is 18.00 a month roughly. Just for comparison A single GB10 workstation realistically tops out around 80 to 120 tokens per second depending on model quantization. Even if you maxed out this machine at 100% load 24 hours a day for 30 straight days, it physically cannot produce more than about 260 million tokens a month. You would need roughly 140 of these boxes running full blast side-by-side to match the raw output volume of the mimo 2.6pro plan. You can pay even less than the price of the electricity to run this box on a cheaper plan and still get more tokens than this box could generate in a month. Your payoff for this machine vs an API is roughly 12-16 years. This thing wont even last that long. This is a total waste of money.

There is at least a veneer of "we will not steal all your projects" with claude and codex.

It's an interesting take to assume these local AI boxes won't pay themselves off. It totally depends on how much you use them of course, but I'm banking on OpenAI and Anthropic both eventually having to raise their prices like mad to make up for the billions they're losing. I bet if you factor in potential increases there, you may find local AI quite a bit more favorable.

If that doesn't make sense to you? Best of luck! ✌️

Not everything is openai or anthropic though so that's where this completely falls apart. You can still pay for access to the models you'd run on one of these and you'd come nowhere near how much this thing costs. You could pay for even BETTER models that this COULDN'T run and still make out way better...

Malestine's comment before is completely correct about this - unless you have some corporate job incentives going on here it doesn't add up getting the hardware right now at these hyper inflated prices, you'll never see your money returned unless you're working on something so super sensitive and end up succeeding with whatever you make with this.

You certainly could do that or just pay to rent the hardware somewhere else and run it there. It's up to you to crunch the numbers here but I really doubt that at this price it still makes sense to but this over renting hardware to do the same thing. It's only really worth it if you can make it worth it ... You're not going to be able to rent the usage of this thing out exclusively to make any profit off this... Your only hope would be that whatever you generate is so good it makes you that profit. So that's really all it is at that point...
