No, it's more bulky and less warm, but only barely. I have one in my camp kit, take the kids to school rotation, and keep a couple spares in the car for nights that catch us off guard. Great for more casual ventures.

Got this jacket 3 yrs ago for a trip to the Eastern Bloc in Europe in January (7 countries). Exceeded my expectations. SUPER light weight. Rolls tight, perfect for luggage. Shockingly warm. Note: not water repellent. Got wet like a wind breaker but didn't penetrate too bad. Sprayed w/ 3M H20 repellent and was puuuurfect (the blue got darker though). All my Czech and Albanian friends loved it. At 1st seemed too light and thought would wear quickly but not the case. Does go on sale a lot for this price, perhaps every month? Ended up buying 2 vests. Slick Deal at this price.
