This 39 piece Duralast metric impact socket set stands out as a low priced way to get a full 1 half inch drive kit with a lifetime warranty. The Cr Mo construction is framed as stronger than Cr V, and the deep sockets are expected to hold up well on larger fasteners. The set does not include every size, with 25 mm, 28 mm, and 29 mm missing, and the smaller sockets can be harder to fit into tight spaces because they are not fully tapered. Case damage on pickup is also a recurring hassle, so it is a practical value play if the included sizes match the job.

  • The 1/2-inch 39-piece set can be picked up for $45, making it a strong option for occasional use.

  • The set includes a lifetime warranty that can reduce the risk of having to buy another socket set if a socket breaks.

  • The Cr-Mo construction can offer stronger performance than Cr-V sockets for impact work.

  • The set can be useful for larger fasteners because deep sockets are preferred for those jobs.

  • The 39-piece metric coverage skips key sizes, including 25mm, 28mm, and 29mm.

  • In-store pickup can arrive with a smashed blow-molded case, including a ripped latch that affects how securely it closes.

  • The set may not cover a complete 9mm-to-30mm run in both standard and deep lengths, which can matter if a specific size like 25mm is needed.

  • The smaller sockets may be harder to fit into tight areas because they are not fully tapered.

How do these rank compared to Pittsburg/quinn from harbor freight?

Not bad for a great set with many sockets, quality is my concern.

I have the HF 1/2" deep impact set (made in Taiwan) purchased in early 2000s. Only use those larger than 17 mm. Very durable heavy duty sockets.

These Duralast sockets should perform well. I personally prefer deep over standard socket when working on big fasteners. May have a problem with warranty if Autozone discontinue this product.

Thanks! For $45 for something I will prob use a handful of times a year with local AZs, why not.

Especially for the price and lifetime warranty worth a shot.

I can't find any Project Farm type of review unfortunately. This is my take. These sockets are made of Cr-Mo, which is stronger than Cr-V already. And, there's a good chance that these sockets are made in the same factory in China just like other big names. Last but not least, if any of them ever breaks, take it back to AutoZone for a replacement. I know it's a hassle but at least you won't end up having to buy another one.

I agree, all great points. Local brick and mortar for this type of stuff, especially if breaks on a weekend project. I couldnt find any good reviews videos either, Waiting to get the ready for pickup email.

Craftsman has been good for warranty claims tbf but they just aren't the same as we all know for quality.

Had to go to two stores, but managed to pick one up in person tonight. The store I found it in had these sets in the clearance section. Ended up free for me after using my Autozone gift cards from Paze 😁

Some other things that were on the clearance shelf:
$36 - Duralast Eva Mechanics Toolset: https://www.autozone.com/p/durala...00/1382518

$50 - Duralast Tire Changing Kit: https://www.autozone.com/p/durala...00/1382480

The count doesn't work for a full 9 to 30 run. That's 22 sizes, times two lengths is 44, and the set is 39 with the u-joint in there. So a few sizes get skipped on each side. Anyone with the case open, which ones are missing? Matters more than the Cr-Mo talk if the one you need is a 25.

3rd pic on the product page list the sizes included. 25mm is not.
