Why? Energy star is useless and freezer can always be handy but of course if a person needs a freezer or not its up to them.

It's rated at $34/year (old standard) and $45/year (higher kWh cost). It won't cost "hundreds" of dollars to run, period.My 1.6 cu ft is rated at $22/year with a useless "freezer" that can't even make the mini ice cubes.Finally, the 3.1 cu ft in this listing comes with a real, proper freezer that can keep ice cream, frozen dinners, etc. indefinitely. You seem to be confusing this with the 3.2 and 4.3 cu ft models, which come with worthless freezers that don't work.
