Maybe this is common knowledge but I'm a mosquito magnet, and to kill the itch I get shortly after I find putting a metal spoon under the hottest water possible and then pressing it against my skin as long as I can stand (on and off) is enough to denature that protein that makes you itchy.

that first review picture labeled "Burnt a deep hole in my ankle" is INSANE
The person must have had some kind of skin condition preexisting or did not use as directed. I just bought it and tried the device on for 6 seconds and although it is hot (like it's supposed to), it left no mark or redness.

Got this last time and it's way too hot; almost felt like I would get burned if I left it on for the full 3s.
Burns so good. I got it last time and I'd rather burn than itch.

Is Zevo the brand for the blue light zapper? Any rec on the racket?I finally killed another one this morning with my bare hand, when my cats alerted me to it. The blood splatter both on the wall and my hand was just horrid.
The blue light zapper does not work at all, I got a top of the line brand for like $200 desperate for relief - it only kills other types of bugs, but not mosquitoes. They are in no way attracted to light, they are attracted to CO2. There are studies confirming this, which I wish I saw before laying out the cash. The racket works well to avoid blood on the walls, I have been using the same nonspecific Chinese brand for years (charges with micro-usb cable to give you an idea) so no need to go crazy searching/comparing, get the cheapest one with decent reviews.

I got it last week and tested it. The heat does turn off after several seconds. I imagine it could potentially malfunction, but how hard is it to count to 6 seconds. It gets quite hot if it's working, so you can manually pull it off if you have to. And for administering it to a child, same thing. It is hot and very concentrated, just pull off if it's uncomfortable for them.

I used my brother's when we were in Asia this summer and it worked really well. Those suckers are insanely itchy and his similar unit relieved it tremendously.

I think these mosquitos have evolved. In the past you can hear them buzzing before they land now they are all stealthy until they suck too much blood and have to flap their wings extra hard to takeoff so you only hear them after the act. To use the racket you first need to see them. I lied and waited for couple of hours and was only able to get one, but got bitten a few more doing so.

I have pets so can't spray the repellent when I'm at home. Sucks big time, pun intended.
Aging invokes hearing loss. I suspect that they haven't grown more stealth wings, I suspect your hearing is diminishing. Smilie

The HeatIt (https://a.co/d/02aRSK6P) is the most convenient device I carry. It is a small dongle that attaches to your phone or keys, and the app verification ensures you will never get a counterfeit.

My first bite-heating device was a Bite Away (https://a.co/d/0bfv1JS7). I gave my original to a relative while traveling and ordered a replacement upon returning home. The replacement turned out to be a fake and burned me. I notified the manufacturer, and they confirmed the forgery after reviewing my photos. Looking back, I could spot differences in the ceramic heating pad and other details. The actual Bite Away company felt bad and sent me a free, authentic device, which was noticeably different from the fake one, and of course it did not burn me!
Would you happen to still have the photos of the fake one? Bought this last time it popped up and I feel like it gets hot enough to burn, but I might be a wimp because my wife says its fine. Just wondering if this one is supposed to have a ceramic pad.

Scratching also provides relief and doesn't cost $10.

As I get older, I'm losing high-pitch hearing. I don't think they're stealthier, I'm just deafer.

i'm also a magnet for those suckers. i am pleasantly surprised how effective that suction thing is. i used to use a hot spoon, which works well but isn't convenient if you're not at home or near a cup of boiling water.

No way in trusting my phone to some random App and plugging some random hardware in the device that knows more about me than anyone else...

Dad taught me a simple camping trick.

While sleeping or stationary, get yourself a large fan or small oscillating fan. (If ur glamping or can carry a battery one)

Mosquitos cant fly in the strong wind. Way better than chemicals to protect yourself.

Otherwise, this device seems great for after the bites.
