These are handy to have just in case and our largely interchangeable but if you do buy one make sure, like this one, that it has an external power adapter to ensure trouble free use. 💜

FYI I bought an ORICO 3.5" HDD enclosure not too different from this one and it died after a year...the disk no longer shows up in This PC when plugged in.

Try another drive in the enclosure yet? Spinning drives don't last forever, especially outside the tower getting bumped around.

There was a known issue with Sabrent enclosures where it would format disks in a non-standard way if it was more than 2TB, making it unreadable by other enclosures or internal drives. I'm not sure if your drive has similar internals but you may have a similar situation. The disk is not damaged, but data on it may not be easily readable. You can reformat, but then you probably lose all your data, so I wouldn't do it without trying another Orico enclosure if possible.

Its more likely the power supply went out, these things are always right on the line.

oh shiet this makes sense. i have two orico enclosures, one of them i put a 4TB HDD. when i tired to put it in an different enclosure it said it was unreadable and had to be initialized. but when i put it back in the same enclosure that i took it out of, it worked fine. WEIRD.
