Probably better to use the same scale to monitor your weight versus having the most accurate scale in the world. If it's heavy or light, it should be consistently heavy or light. It's not like you're weighing in for a prize fight.

Precisely. Most of these scales will track relative changes in weight and body comp correctly. But in absolute measures, they are going to be within a reasonable error range. They are not "gold standard" for research but they are just fine for simple home tracking.

Any good?
Why are you asking the person asking the same question ? Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Common sense (and if you know about how to accurately take these measurements)..a $30 all-in-one scale has no chance.

With that said, if you want some ballpark numbers, it's better than nothing.

Different model but display looks the same. I wouldn't trust it's doing any more than weighing you.

I got this scale about 2 months ago after Google killed support for the Fitbit scale I've had for years. I just wanted a reasonably accurate scale that syncs with Apple Health because I've gotten really into putting everything in there recently.

Overall, this scale has worked great so far. I've been exercising a LOT recently and had lost about 10 pounds before getting this scale, and it accurately reflected that on the first weigh-in. I think the body fat numbers are reasonable, but I don't put too much "weight" into anything else.

One weird quirk that you may or may not like is that you open the app, then step on your scale, and it'll immediately recognize that it's you standing on the scale. The Fitbit scale did this a little more automatically, but it would often get me and other people confused in our household, especially if I hadn't used it in a while. While this is an extra step, I typically only stand on the scale about once a week, and it guarantees that my data doesn't get mixed up with someone else's.

But if you're looking for a cheap scale that syncs with Apple Health or Google Fit and isn't from some random Amazon no-name brand, this one actually looks pretty cool and it's worked great for me.

GE scale's don't Even do that. They track weight and use a math equation to fabricate the rest of the data. Complete fraud.

They're a scam. Their better scales that have the hardware to do measurements still don't. They fabricate the data. Someone linked the blog exposing this above in the comments and I confirmed it with my own data.

It's not fraud, it's the indignation of those naive enough to expect scientifically accurate data out of a $30 scale.

As a previous poster noted, these are 100% fine for personal tracking. And that's the key: tracking. It will do a perfectly acceptable job of giving you a consistent data showing changes over time. Who cares if the weight is off by 2-3lbs? Who cares if the fat, water, bone, whatever isn't accurate?

Generally speaking, these types scales are precise and for the overwhelming majority of people - including those who think they "need" accuracy - precision is what they really want/need. If over a 6-month period that scale shows you lost weight, lost a few percentage points of fat, and gained some muscle mass, the accuracy of those numbers is almost certainly irrelevant because the trend is what people actually care about.

šŸŽÆ This are very useful to show *trends*, not precise daily accuracy, and so is well worth it.

The problem outlined in the post is that they aren't actually using the impedance hardware installed and mathematically calculating your body composition simply by using your BMI.

This is a promoted deal but I bought it and really like it compared to the other scales that the same thing. Build quality seems really good.

The irony of your comment is off the charts. You clearly didn't read the criticism or accusations so why chime in with a completely irrelevant non-response? I'll try to break it down further for you: GE's scales don't track anything other than weight. Simple enough to understand?

So simple I already acknowledged that, but thanks for dumbing it down further for people like yourself who are a little slow. I'm sure they'll appreciate the TLDR version of "this is a $30 scale, not a professional tool". You, on the other hand, appear to be quite the professional...well, think hard about it, you'll get it eventually.

Looking at your comment history, you don't contribute much of value. I think I'll block you, reduce the static. Bye šŸ™‚
