Good price, considering that little ol company Jeff Bezos started everyday price is about $15 (not $27). If you need it now, or want to have one on the shelf cause you next oil change is, soon...def go for it. Otherwise, I usually get these when they dip below $10

Fram's parent company went out of business Sept 2025. Premium Guard bought the Fram assets. They've stripped the wire backing out of these filters and integrated their own valuve, so what you see in the future will not be the same filter we're used to. There's a chance this is old stock getting pushed out the door, I suppose. It seems like PG is trying to start domestic manufacturing using the old production equipment, since they bought it. But in the past they offshored all their private label filter products.

I'm going to snag a few in hopes these are old stock. But even if they aren't, they carry the same quality ratings and are cheaper than the M1's I also use on occasion. If anybody wants a similar filter to the old Ultra Synthetic, the 3rd option I found is the Wix XP line. It also has wire backed filter and a 20k mile rating, but slightly lower filtration of the small particles.

Unlikely its old stock. These were out of stock a while when Fram was sold. During that interval, they cheapened these filters. Tear aparts since then show very little difference between the 3 levels (regular, tough guard, xtra guard), so this is not a good price. I used to use these and now have moved on. Someone mentioned earlier about Mobil 1. When Mobil 1 was made in the US, they were the best made filters. Now they are overpriced and mediocre, like these new frams.

Still researching. For now, I went back to a Pure One purolator on the last oil change I just did on my Honda and on my Toyota, I used the very last USA made Mobil 1 I had. (I bought out local stock when Mobil 1 moved production outside the US, and had about 10 which lasted me a decade!)

Don't run any filter 20k miles, filters are cheap, engines are not.

These are the XG7317 equivilant if you're looking for one of the best and cost isn't a concern. 10-micron filtration rating in ISO test 4548-12, integrated neodymium magnet and are much longer than what you'd normally see.

The best oil, oil filter, and air filter will not fix a poor engine design, like the Toyota V35A or the GM crap. A well designed engine will see maximum wear at the piston/cylinder bore area. Most engine wear occurs during warm up, when the engine starts out at ambient temperature. The best oil, oil filter, and air filter will not significantly alter engine life.

Minimize engine warm up and shut down if you want to maximize engine life. An engine has metals that expand/contract at different rate. These metals will reach proper operating clearances when the engine is operating at normal temperature.

There is no such thing as a lifetime fluid. The cheapest and most efficient way to remove contaminants in the fluid is to drain and refill.
