Just make sure you dry them over night. I've have a $12 knife that has a knife guard and it's been fine for over 4 years.

My go to knife even though I have an expensive set

These are NOT the color ones. I would assume these are full tang. I've had the handles of my steak knives break apart in the past, so I avoid that style.
