When in doubt contact the manufacturer directly to ensure they will warranty this item sold by this seller on AliExpress. [email protected]

How do people use these without UL listing? Off grid is fine but most people aren't off grid. Just cowboy installs and hope it doesn't burn down the house? I bought Ecoworthy's rack mount UL listed version. Passed permitting review so I'm legit for the insurance if there's any problem.

this looks like an older sku or something... I'm not sure. but they do sell a model very much like this (through other channels) that is ul 1973 (this aliexpress sku doesn't claim ul 1973)

No Eco-Worthy products have been reported to the CPSC.

Yes, this is pretty much off grid only.

Most jurisdictions require UL 9540, which their Cubix line of batteries claim to be certified for.

I purchased 2 of these. One was delivered and one i had to go pick up myself. 2 months ago. So far solid as a rock performance, and purchased 2x Eco Worthy 5kw inverter for 10,000 240 volt output. This is an off grid usage, so don't need UL cert.

I will add that even if it says you can return for free, they will not give you a return label and will require you to pay for shipping yourself. So buyer beware.

Ul listed isnt the magic you think it is, many ul listed products have failed. Will prowse does a good job doing teardowns of lifepo4 batteries, alot of them are garbage. A few are built well and safe, even without an expensive UL certificate.
Will has given lots of terrible advice in the past and continues to. He's not an electrician and shouldn't be treated as such. UL Listing is very important. You can ignore it if you have lots of experience building around it, but if you're quoting Will Prowse, that's not you. Source: electrician

Just to tack on - whether or not UL listing is imperfect, what it is is a certification that would provide you a level of defense if the insurance company decided to disclaim coverage for using the battery. As long as you use it in a manner consistent with it's documentation, if it's UL listed you're in the clear.

Most USA homeowner policies are written on an HO3 (special perils cause off loss form). That means that if the loss is not excluded it is covered.

In order for insurance to refuse to pay a claim they would have to prove that it was your negligent actions and that the fire originated in something you did on purpose.

They can't deny coverage just because you have solar or because you did DIY -- They can't even deny coverage if the fire starts on your solar DIY -- They have to prove you did something on purpose that was against best practices in the hopes of a fire, or that you deliberately caused fire for instance by setting the charge voltage to high or by loosening a connection or putting a steel washer between high current contact surfaces on purpose KNOWING it would cause a high heat spot and a fire.

In our homes we have literally hundreds of products that are not UL listed and could cause a fire... The cheap amazon battery chargers and batteries for your power tools. The cheap surge suppressor you have your TV plugged into, etc.... hundreds of examples.... and there are UL listed items that cause fires... the original small apple wall bricks for their phones.... the samsung note phones that exploded for no good reason, etc...

Heres a video showing the inside build quality for those interested
