None of the exercises this thing enables work the arms in any meaningful way.

Using it in the front looks like a chest exercise and using it overhead like in the picture seems more like a shoulder exercise. but both movements have limited range of motion, so questionable effectiveness

But forearms are trained with heavy grip work. And since you're never pulling on this thing, it's never really challenging your forearms.

biomechanically I can't reason how this would possibly impact the upper arms at all.

(that said, the best exercises are the ones you'll do consistently. so if this is that for you, awesome)

It should. But you're probably better off getting a resistance band set. Far more versatile, and was my go-to during the COVID lockdown.

I've had one (plain jane) for about a year.

Price aside, I like it. I don't use it all the time, but it hits differently, is fun and challenging.

You're wrong about that. I did traditional working out for years and lots of curls and this thing does work your biceps and forearms if you position it correctly.

I put the handle into my shoulder area, (while holding with other hand) and pull the other end towards me almost like you're flexing-it works great.

I use it daily and I'm actually surprised how well it works for the biceps and forearms.
