I tried to get into this game but couldn't deal with heavy and sluggish character movement.

Game's on the card, sweet:

The game is fully on the Cronos - Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Card. You don't need to download the full game — just insert the card and you're ready to play.
However, the exclusive bonus in-game content (like the Traveler skin and extra supplies) is delivered via an online update, which you'll download after inserting the card. Once downloaded, you can activate these extras from the main menu.

I read on Reddit that the Switch 2 version struggles to maintain a good/constant framerate, while the Switch (1) version runs fine. Can anyone verify?

This isn't even available on Switch 1. So, I'm not sure where you heard it runs better there. No way could that system handle this game. That being said, this does struggle with the framerate. It's locked to 30fps, and doesn't even maintain that at all times. It also has noticeable cuts to the lighting, textures and shadows. The PS5 and Series X versions, meanwhile, have a 60fps performance mode, while also having better lighting, textures and shadows. So, if you have one of those consoles, that's the way to go, unless you really just want to play this on the go.

Hmm, maybe I'm thinking of a comparison between Sw2 and PS5/XSX. I still don't understand why publishers think they can get away with releasing games that run half as well as they do on other consoles

With that logic, then they should only make it available to those who have the top of the line graphics card at the time.

Which would cut outnthe PS5, too.

Every game would be PC only.

They arent a huge developer, so they want to reach as many fans and consumers as possible.

This is just wrong. Literally says "25GB - Full game download via internet required". Keycards do not hold game data. Only a license.

Then they should scale the graphics down or optimize it better for the hardware. No game should struggle on modern hardware, regardless of the system. Devs can do it

Any unsuspecting potential buyer, like me, might see this game's footage (probably recorded on another console) and want to purchase it. When they buy it on Switch 2 and it doesn't perform up to the expectation they had, that's a letdown. My point is that no consumer should get a much lesser version of a game just because of their console of choice, especially if it's current-gen

I know it's Nintendo lol. This has been a thing for 20 years. But I still don't think anyone who has Switch/2 as their primary console should feel left out and only look forward to Nintendo-published games running at 60fps

Nintendo name been about third parties since the Gamecube at best. Every other system has been about their best games being optimized for their new system. As shouldn't even be able to discuss this because third parties have no business getting to port something over from a system 2.5 times more powerful. Publishers should either pick an art style that can translate to a nintendo system (cell shading is one if the reasons windwaker still looks good today) or just skip alltogether instead of being greedy and make a shitty port to capture that audience. They did an OK job with cyberpunk, but it was also a 5 year old game by then and still sacrifices had to be made because it was so bleeding edge when it came out. You pretty much needed a 3090 ro run it on pc with RT on. Certainly at 4k.

The question is how does the Switch 2 version compare to the Xbox Series X / PS5 versions?
