I'd pay 50 bucks for an egg salad sandwich from 7/11.

During the main snowfall period in jan/feb it's still probably going to fine. They get good snow even in low snow seasons.

They're fine lol. For the price it's great but not that GOATed. If you're going to Hokkaido, check out soup curry and scallops/crab. Kaisen bowls are a hit. Visit Le Tao and get cheese cake. Shiroi koibito cookies are delicious, they also have a factory there. Secoma is a unique conbini to hokkaido so stop in there for hokkaido exclusive conbini snacks. Skip the Naruto fried chicken--you'll see it recommended a lot but it's really salty and dry.

No. It's as moronic as saying tourists come to America just to eat gas station hot dog. Anyone with any sense of taste avoids convenience stores in any country (even Japan) because the product relative to what else you could be getting is exactly the same

Not a bad deal if you can find something reasonable with these inflated fuel prices. I grabbed the $330 Singapore Air one-way to Tokyo for December. There's some good return fares for Jan now...

Anyways, was in Hokkaido last Jan, and it was brutal weather across all of the island. Like any place with formidable snow and ice, take it slow. That said, there were some incredible hotel bargains outside of the ski areas. I say go, I enjoy Hokkaido mostly in Summer though because of camping.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there, bud. I'm a bit of a foodie. I also used to live in Japan and I go back about once a year. Japan does have the best convenience store food in the world. It's not competing with a 5-star restaurant, but it's not trying to. I love hitting all the great restaurants in Japan, but I also love checking out all the new items that Lawson's, 7-11, Family Mart, and Daily Yamazaki come out with. Would I buy a ticket just to eat at the convenience stores? No - but it's definitely something I look forward to.
